Alexander and Eliza’s Rings, Handkerchiefs, and Wedding Cake (Hamilton 33)

Today, September 2, 2016, is the last day of the Hamilton memorabilia exhibition at the Rare Book and Manuscripts Library in the Butler Library, Columbia University. It includes Alexander and Eliza’s wedding bands.

Since we’re on the subject of weddings: the recipe for Alexander and Eliza’s wedding cake (maybe?!?) has surfaced. See the article here. If you make it, let me know how it tastes. Twelve pounds of flour, 12 pounds of sugar, 4 quarts of booze: you’d better plan to have quite a large party.

To reach the rare book room at Butler Library, you’ll have to present an ID and get a day pass. No big deal. If it’s past September 2, 2016, when you read this, phone the Rare Book and Manuscripts Library at (212) 854-5590 and ask if the exhibition run past its official closing date. Apparently that sometimes happens.
