Lord Peter, I presume?

Leyendecker (1874-1951) is one of my favorite American illustrators, active starting in 1899 – almost the same time as Maxfield Parrish began painting. On my wish list is the latest, gloriously glossy illustrated book on  Leyendecker, by Cutler and Cutler.

One online site uses this as an illustration of Lord Peter Wimsey. Sayers began publishing the Wimsey series seven years after this illustration was painted, so that’s just wishful thinking … but the image fits Lord Peter perfectly, doesn’t it?
